As a senior in college studying Communication, Comm 444 has brought to my attention that there is an increasing problem in the media. There are many problems in the media, but the one that sticks out the most for me is young women and body images portrayed in the media. It is everyday that young girls are bombarded with images that make them believe something that isn't the truth. The hope for this website is to try and expose that. After reading through what we have put together, I hope that views are changed and it causes people to think a little differently about the media and what it is putting out there for the younger generation to absorb.

I am studying Communication and Sociology at WWU and will be graduating Winter 2012. By taking a Critical Media Literacy course, I have learned the importance of media literacy education and being individually aware of the messages the media is portraying to it's viewers. My goal is to continue working towards exposing the lie the media as told young women and bring awareness to these topics addressed on our site. I hope for this website to be a good starting point for anyone interested in learning more about the messages the media sends to young women and those who want to get more involved in the movement for media literacy.
